As of 1 February 2016, the European Steel Association (EUROFER) takes over the management of the Quality Tracking System for steel coils. Currently, the steering committee for this project is composed of ArcelorMittal, Thyssenkrupp Steel Europe, Tata Steel Europe, voestalpine Stahl and Salzgitter Flachstahl.
The Quality Tracking System uses bar codes to facilitate the tracing of defects that may occur in steel coils, principally for automotive applications. The system was initially developed by ArcelorMittal, Thyssenkrupp and Tata Steel Europe, starting in 2011. The project aims to:
Support a vision of ‘zero defects’ in manufacturing processes
Increase the resource efficiency of the global steel supply chain
All companies interested by the Quality Tracking System can join the project as an ‘ordinary’ member. Steel producers, carmakers, steel coil processors, part manufacturers, service centers and blanking line builders can all find applications and benefits in the Quality Tracking System.
A workshop is scheduled for 14th September 2016 in the EUROFER Offices are being held to give interested stakeholders an understanding of the system in practice.
For further information and to register for the workshop, please contact the EUROFER Secretariat by writing to email@example.com
